New York Islanders captain John Tavares said he’s experienced conferences with the crew regarding an extension and that he needs to continue being with the franchise.

“I have appreciated my time currently being an Islander and I want that expertise to continue on,” Tavares instructed TSN on Tuesday. “For me, I just want to get completely ready for the upcoming season and get the job done on currently being the greatest participant I can be for the Islanders.

Tavares, the No. one all round decide in the 2009 draft, became qualified to indication an extension July one but is set to enjoy future season on the remaining 12 months of his six-12 months, $33 million contract. He led the Islanders with sixty six points past season, and he is predicted to be completely ready in time for the 2017-18 season following getting surgical treatment on his right hand in April.

“I believe I am going to just hold that all internal,” Tavares instructed TSN about the negotiations. “We’ve experienced wonderful open conversation, it is really obviously a wonderful area to enjoy.”

In his 8 seasons with the Islanders, Tavares has 235 aims and 302 assists. The four-time All-Star has led the Isles to 3 playoff appearances.
